At Hugs For Hogs, I want to give my new hog parents the most enjoyable adopting experience. That’s why I believe that my policies should be fair, clear and transparent. Below you’ll find a list of all my policies. If you can’t find the information you’re looking for - please don’t hesitate to contact me!
All purchases, deposits, and waiting list fees are non-refundable.
Deposits and waiting list fees are applied to the purchase price of the hedgehog balance due before pick-up.
Payments must be made through the website.
The health all hedgehogs sold by Hugs For Hogs are guaranteed against congenital defects for 3 months and have a lifetime warranty against Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome. (SEE BELOW)
Hedgehogs may be surrendered back to Hugs For Hogs, no questions asked at anytime, if owners can no longer take care of their hedgehog.
Colors are not guaranteed.
I guarantee that to the best of my knowledge my hedgehogs are healthy and free from any know health issues. Once my hedgehogs go to their new homes, I have no control how they will be cared for. Due to this uncertainty, my health guarantee only covers congenital problems which existed from birth. I am NOT responsible for any accidents, mistreatment, or communicable illness that your hedgehog may obtain while in your care.
If your hedgehog passes away due to a congenital health problem during the first 3 months you have him/her, Hugs For Hogs will replace the animal at no cost. YOU MUST have a necropsy report from a licensed veterinarian stating the problem was congenital. ANY AND ALL vet bills are NOT the responsibility of Hugs For Hogs. The replacement of the hedgehog will be done with the next available litter, but not overriding another person’s deposit on a hedgehog.
Lastly, seeing that there is about a 10% chance a hedgehog will have WHS, I have a lifetime guarantee against Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome, again the necropsy report must state the hedgehog passed away due to WHS.
I will not sell to residents of California, Georgia, Pennsylvania as it is illegal to own such precious creatures in those states. Proof of ID may be required at the time of pickup.
All my babies will be ready to go at 7 weeks or at 200 grams, and not a day or gram sooner. Maybe later if I do not feel comfortable that the hoglet is ready to face the world on their own.
Once the total balance of your bean has been paid, a date and time will be arranged for you to come pick up your new family member.
All balances must be paid before the hedgehog leaves the house; that is, to be transported to meet you.
See Transportation page about transportation!
Communication is key. I hold the right to refuse sale due to any circumstance which might implicate that the potential hog parent to be an unfit caretaker.
